Partners in art and life, Chaja Hertog (Amsterdam 1978) & Nir Nadler (Haifa 1977) are Amsterdam based artist duo Hertog Nadler, operating across disciplines of visual arts, performance and film. Coming from different backgrounds – Europe and the Middle East – their collaboration is an attempt to rework two approaches into a single vision that contains some sort of contradiction. Hertog Nadler’s practice can be perceived as abstract storytelling; they tend to combine cinematic and theatrical languages to respond on a given location, its history, landscape and communities. Their oeuvre includes moving image, photography, spatial installations & performances and site-specific sculptures in public spaces.
