Queensland Police determined that the best means of finding teenagers who go missing in Australia at a rate of one every 20 minutes was by reaching out to the teens themselves. Using geo-targeting, Queensland Police can send out a missing persons message to Snapchat users that provides a photo and information about the missing person. Not only does the messaging reach what is generally considered a disengaged audience, but the disappearing nature of the Snapchat messaging helps spur an emotive response.
