However, his achievement has often been disputed due to accusations that he used illegal performance-enhancing drugs during his career. In 2007, Marc Ecko bought Bonds’ record-breaking 756th home run ball and decided to let the public decide its fate. Fans could go to a website and decide whether the ball should be donated to the Hall of Fame, marked with an asterisk to acknowledge doping accusations, or shot into space.
