Illiteracy is the root cause of many of the world’s biggest problems, with over 700 million people around the world unable to read or write. To promote Project Literacy, education publisher Pearson made a video called “Alphabet of Illiteracy.” It reworked the 1948 hit “A You’re Adorable” but instead of using uplifting words, it conveys the A to Z of the world’s major problems, from AIDS, bloodshed and child brides to zero options.
The film had more than 12.8 million views and over 27.3 million social impressions since launch. The petition was signed over 14,000 times and Project Literacy was asked to join the UNESCO Global Alliance for Literacy.
