Pepsi – Uncle Drew

Videos are extremely shareable when they portray unlikely heroes and unbelievable human feats. Uncle Drew is a full-length movie based on a viral Pepsi video from their YouTube channel, in which an NBA star is disguised as an old man. Drew is in fact NBA player Kyrie Irving, who plays against local street basketball players and kicks their asses. The original video with over 50 million views was deemed so successful that Pepsi made two follow-up videos and eventually the movie.

With a cast of NBA stars and a budget of less than $20 million, the movie made over $40 million in theatres, but generated more awareness and sales for Pepsi through product placement.
